General Director
Stem Cells Bank Pokrovski is a private-funded organization involved in stem cells banking and research related to biological medicines. The network of Stem Cells Bank Pokrovski’s physicians, molecular biologists, managers, staff and researchers is a tightly connected system of brightest minds. It has several common goals:
-
To create a Regional Center of excellence in stem cells banking and molecular medicine and use its expertise in serving the needs of population, patients, as well as medical institutions.
-
To work on promoting high-quality Western-standard stem cells banking and research in the field of molecular medicine.
Specialists of our center were trained in Germany (Hamburg, Medical School), Japan (Nagasaki, Atomic Bomb Disease Institute), the USA (Boston, Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering Research).
Stem cell research offers enormous potential for major advances in clinical therapy. Stem cells could be used to replace missing or damaged cells in important diseases. The establishment of the Center of Cell and Gene Therapy of Stem Cells Bank Pokrovski is an important step along the way to realizing this potential and offers a vital resource to support the advance of research in this exciting area. At the same time we are developing important safeguards, by ensuring that umbilical cord blood stem cells, which could ultimately provide the basis for clinical treatment are handled and stored under properly controlled conditions and undergo stringent safety and quality control testing.
